My dog has food allergies. You thought having Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) was bad but can you imagine being a dog and not being able to eat beef? He has other allergies as well. I think learning to work with his allergies taught me how to avoid my triggers when I became chemically sensitive.

My dog is very food motivated but all the treats in the pet store contain ingredients he cannot have.

Forgive me you all for posting more than once in the same day but if I don't reblog this now while I am thinking about it--I will definitely forget. MCSGal, a fellower blogger, posted last month a recipe for Doggie Freezer Treats. It seems her dog has food allergies and she needed to find a treat for him that was safe. When we think of food allergies, we don't often think about our pets. For those of you whose animal has food allergies, check out the recipe.

  1. Sorry, I have been out of touch. Happy New Year to you. Your blog something along the liNe of Return from the battlefield brought me to you. I,ve since followed your writing and am surprised of how your writing fits in with my medical problems on a small scale. In my last blog I wrote aboute the diagnosis of PTSD and you wrote me back that it is not different than what you suffer from. I agree with you 100%. Now I read your take on our pet care and my wife and I have noticed that our beloved pets suffer silently when we screw up. While the rash of deaths contributed to the Chinese manufactured dog treats was upon us we paid little attention. I did start to look at the bags of treats we bought to make sure they were made in America. One day my son went to Cosco and bought a load of treats, most of which came from China. Within a couple of weeks mu dog Maggie became ill and had to visit the vet. They said she had a severe urinary infection and her kidney were failing. She went on a regiment of pills and after some time she came back to normal. I did make sure that she never received the treats again. My wife and I went on a short vacation and our son dog sat both of ours. When we returned I noticed a bag of treats like those he had before almost empty and Maggie was once again not herself. So Understand exactly what you are pointing out. We have started to make our own food, with the help of an old vet we knew from years ago. We make our own treats for them and we can actually see the results in the play and attitude.
Keep up the good work. I’ll be looking forward to your next email for some more good reading.
I’m hoping my book will be available by early next week on Amazon.com in eBook format.
    Wish me luck.
    Thanks
