I have long been wanting plants in my house but can’t have soil due to my mold allergies and sensitivities. I discussed possibly getting a plant that could grow in water in a recent post about being allergic to a bonsai tree. In this post I showed plants growing in vases of water. Today I bought a spider plant and rinsed the soil off and put it in a vase along with my new pet, Dorothy. Dorothy is a beta fish and will eat off the roots of my plant. Her new home is missing some pretty rocks or stones which my daughter will provide for me in the next few days. In the meantime, Dorothy wants to meet all of you.

Dorothy
I have received some information describing plants and what they filter out of the air. I will follow up this post in the next few days with this information.

How adorable is Dorothy! Love her cobalt blue color! (O;
Why thank you. My granddaughter picked her out for me. She is named after Elmo’s fish Dorothy on Sesame Street.
Hello Dorothy—– I was going to ask if the plants name was Toto????
Pretty! I love my fish
Loved this idea. I have plants in soil since they are supposed to clean the air, but I never thought about the soil being a problem.
Just one more thing to think about.

So does the beta live off the plant, or does it still need to eat other things?
She eats off the plant but I give her three pieces of food a day as well.
