9-11-01

Today in the US is a day of remembrance of all those who lost their lives in a horrific terrorist attack on our country  on September 11, 2001 and for those whom they left behind.  It is not a day we will soon forget but is a day that is painful for many of us to remember.  I first heard of the news on the radio while getting dressed for work.  I thought it was some sort of joke.  I decided to have my husband turn on the television to be sure.  It shook me to the core to watch the images of planes flying into the twin towers and hearing of the other planes crashing once I reached work.  It has been eleven years but the memory is still very raw when I recall the pictures in my mind.  I was in the midst of a battle of my own with my health and this horrible nightmare just deepened my sadness.

Today is also a day of being thankful for all those first responders that sacrificed their lives and their health to help and search for survivors of the disaster.  Many of the first responders have now become ill from exposure to all the toxins created after the twin towers fell.  To those of you who are suffering from the cancers and the invisible illnesses caused by all the chemicals and debris you inhaled, I wish you the best and say thank you for sacrificing so much to help your country.

  2. Beautiful words for such tragedy. May history never repeat. In Australia, it was played over and over on tv, and it felt as if the world had gone to war. Love, peace and hugs to all affected by 9/11.
