If I Only Had A Brain!!!!

BRAIN FOG, BRAIN FOG, BRAIN FOG

I have talked about this so many times and have read posts from other bloggers talking about the wonderful world of brain fog.  I struggle with memory (short-term) and finding the right words when talking.  Worse yet if I am carrying on a conversation and get the slightest interruption, I have no idea what I was just talking about.  Sound Familiar?  This happened a few days ago with my friend Liz.  This time it was her trying to remember what we were talking about.  What did I do?  I started humming my theme song “If I Only Had A Brain” from the Wizard of Oz.  The only part I could truly remember was the title of it.  She couldn’t remember all the words either.  So to you Liz, here are the words.  Maybe next time we can actually sing it together rather than just hum it.

Lyrics to If I Only Had A Brain :

(Scarecrow)
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain
And my head I’d be scratchin’
While my thoughts were busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain
I’d unravel any riddle
For any individ’le
In trouble or in pain
(Dorothy)
With the thoughts you’d be thinkin’
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain
(Scarecrow)
Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean’s near the shore
I could think of things I never thunk before
And then I’d sit and think some more
I would not be just a nuffin’
My head all full of stuffin’
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain

Brilliant. Sometimes I say the wrong word completely, I sound such an idiot but I know what I meant. I’m going to save these lyrics 😉

  5. Hahaha! Love it! I had one of those days today, too.

  6. The more I see this topic coming up online, the more I think I have the same thing…. :-/

  7. I have those days often between the Fibro Fog, my seizure med, and probably a touch of senility, too. I still believe stress causes a lot of medical problems, including forgetfulness or ‘fog’.

    • The illness causes the brain fog along with a multitude of other issues. This all causes stress which in turn causes or exacerbates the brain fog. Then if you need to take medications, your toxic load is increased further increasing the likelihood of brain fog. What a vicious cycle.

  8. That’s going to be stuck in my head as I try to sleep! LOL

  9. Hi Kath, sorry to hear about brain fog, never knew such a thing existed. Stress does take a toll on many of us, but I’m amazed how you cope up with it, inspite of your illness. Its more of a inspiration to lots of us…Actually my hubby suffers from Sinusitis, so I know about the viscous cycle of mediation, head aches, stress, it causes to him…in fact any kind of recurring ailment is stressful and we all need strong support mechanism to cope up with it…glad to have visited your blog…its very informative…

  10. I’ve claimed that as my theme song for years, too! Thanks for the lyrics. I didn’t remember after If I only had a brain, lol. Ah yes, brain fog. At least it isn’t Alzheimer’s (I checked-it got that bad :-D)
