Review of ‘Allergic to Life’ by Kathryn Chastain Treat

This is my first review of Allergic to Life.

Charles Ray's Ramblings

Imagine waking up one day and learning that you’re becoming allergic to everything around you. Foods you formerly ate can now make you deathly ill, and your work environment is not just uncomfortable, but potentially fatal.

This is the situation that Kathryn Chastain Treat found herself in, and about which she has written in Allergic to Life. A journal of her battle with a debilitating condition that threatened to break her family apart, and caused her to have to physically separate herself from the things that she had grown up with, it is also a story of courage and persistence. Treat’s battles with an uncomprehending and often uncaring bureaucracy, dealings with doctors who didn’t understand her condition, and with her own frustrations and anxieties, are related almost matter-of-factly. 3. After all the hard work, I bet it feels great to read a good review.

    • MCS Gal – Yes it does and I have been pretty stress free despite all that I am trying to do until a little bit ago. Had my grandson for a couple hours this morning and then made the hour drive to get my sutures out and a trip to Whole Foods, etc. Came home to a bunch of emails that I need to take care of and one site I open freezes up my computer right now. UGH!

      • With all you are doing, you are making me tired 🙂 The last thing you need right now is computer problems. I am sure your life is wild right now but I hope you are enjoying it.

      • I am tired and am trying to slow it down a bit. Starting next week with the book blog tour and my party, things are going to be very crazy. A dear friend from high school (he took my photos and clumsy text boxes and made them look much better for the book has invited us to an outdoor dinner at his home this weekend. I am looking forward to a night of relaxation and friendship and a night away from my computer which seems to be drawing me in way too much lately.

      • Enjoy your relaxing night. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is shut down the computer and walk away because there is always more to do. It is amazing though that when I do that and focus on other things, I seem to get renewed energy. I feel good because I get other things done and my brain is then ready to get back to the computer.

  4. That’s great Kathryn! Congratulations! I’m sure there will be many more good reviews in the future.
