The problem with corn allergies…it’s everywhere. Literally.

For those with corn allergies (I am one but they are under control thanks to my LDA (low dose antigen) therapy. It is a nightmare avoiding all that is in corn.


Having severe corn allergies can lead to some surprising challenges…there are some very surprising places where corn turns up.

Like envelope glue. And some anti-allergy meds. And even in some IV and IM medications.

Intravenous Vitamin C is a commonly used treatment for severe allergies, for chemo recovery and for other GI issues and the majority of the available brands are all corn sourced, corn carried, or corn based.

I once went into anaphylactic shock due to a vaccination that had a corn sourced ingredient.

Artificial sweeteners
Ascorbic acid
Aspartame (Artificial sweetener)
Baking powder
Barley malt* (generally OK, but can be contaminated)

  1. Wow… This is a huge list! I never realized how many products/ingredients contain some form of corn!

  2. Yikes! And I thought avoiding gluten was difficult 😦
