My “Allergic to Life” Giveaway Ends Soon!

Hi Everyone

First let me thank all of my new followers. I have been away dealing with my deep vein thrombosis.  I will write more on that after I meet with the hematologist tomorrow afternoon.

It is hard to believe it has been a year since Allergic to Life was published. Where did that year go? So much has happened since then.  If you haven’t already signed up to receive one of three signed copies or the chance for one of three e-book copies, please read the giveaway information below.

To celebrate this amazing year and all the wonderful people I have met, I am giving away three signed copies of Allergic to Life (US Only) on Goodreads.  I am sorry that I can’t do signed copies for those of you outside the US.  I am going to also give away three e-book copies to anyone outside the US. To receive an e-book copy, simply leave a comment below on why you would like to receive a copy. The contest will run from August 30, 2014 through October 30, 2014, my birthday.

  1. I’m not leaving this comment to get a free copy. I already have mine. Loved it. I just wanted to say Happy Birthday. Mine is on the 16th of October.

  2. I just came across your site when I was doing a search for mold and cross a contamination. I am so sorry for all that you’ve had to go through. Our family of nine’s hellish nightmare began in Nov. 2012. We moved to our “dream home” out on 5 acres. In just a few short months, our once very healthy family, started having a variety of strange illnesses. I now have a son with Type 1 diabetes, a son with asthma and chemical sensitivities, I got Bells Palsy among other brain issues, my husband who has never been to the hospital in his life has now had 13 pancreatic attacks and my 2 year old daughter would cough so hard she would throw up mucous and stop breathing. After 7 mos. We fled for our lives and got back into our old home two weeks before our newborn baby was born. We have gotten significantly better but continue to have issues. I fear we are going to have to completely start over. I am just sick inside and feel like I can no longer go on. I am exhausted and live with high levels of anxiety and loneliness from the lack of understanding. I too am in the process of writing a book and hope to have it published early next year. Mine is called “Jill’s Hope” and is about my experiences with my mother dying from Huntington’s Disease, having three children with ataxia-telangiectasia and now toxic mold poisoning. I am really anxious to read your book and your experiences. With your permission, I would also like to share the brief overview of your story, your blog site and mention your book. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    • Jill, I am so sorry to hear of your story. This has not only affected you but your entire family. I have added your name to the drawing. Of course you may share a brief overview of my story along with my blog site. You may also contact me via the contact button at the top of my blog page.

I would love an e-copy. I to have been battling for survival for 17 years so I would love to read about your story and how you cope day to day. Thanks for your consideration and congratulations on a successful year. (hope the DVT is resolving. Did they have to give you medication? Are you tolerating that OK??)

Just saw that yes you are on warfarin hope that you are tolerating it OK? Is your INR staying in an acceptable range or are they considering heparin?

  4. My INR jumped to 5.9 and I had to stay off of it for a week. Lots of things to talk about. I am exhausted. I plan to post something by the end of the week on how things are going and what my hematologist had to say during our first appointment.

I will add your name to the drawing for an e-book copy of Allergic to Life.

  5. Hi, Kathryn. Already have my copy of your wonderful book Allergic to Life. Just wanted to wish you A Very Happy Birthday! Hope all goes well with the specialist and that your year will be a healthy and happy one. ❤ Bette

  6. Thank you Bette. I am working on it…the health issue that is. I hope to have a blog done by the weekend.

  7. I would like to enter your drawing, be it ebook or hard copy. I have battling vertigo for two years now, and have finally found a doctor that is trying to help find the solution. Through a blood allergy test, it came back high in candida and mold second. Working hard to eliminate yeast and mold out of my diet. I found your salad dressing recipe and am excited to try it. Dressing with only oil and lemon juice sounded very bland, so this will be nice to try. My husband has been a savior in helping my diet. He loves to cook and has made many dishes that I can eat and they are very tasty.

  8. I stumbled across your Twitter account and wanted to know more. My mom is allergic to everything from mold, trees, chemicals in soaps, meds. I thought maybe you shared some common ground and I wanted to read more for her.

  9. I have read the book, a very courageous book indeed. I am still in awe about how much Kathryn had to go through. Nothing on Earth can change your life if it is not time for you to go.
