Allergic to Life’s 1 Year Anniversary

Book Cover

What a ride it has been since Allergic to Life: My Battle for Survival, Courage, and Hope debuted last year.  I have been fortunate to have had my first blog tour with some of my amazing followers as well as through Rave Reviews Book Club. It was amazing being  spotlighted with both PNP Authors and Rave Reviews Book Club. Allergic to Life has received some wonderful reviews and exposure as well.

This past October I celebrated in a BIG way by having a book launch party at the home of my dear friends Steve and Victoria.

A book can never have too much exposure

A friend and classmate Jerri Hansen, author of Fences and My Life on the other side of the Tracks,  surprised me with a book trailer she had made for me.

I also had a book trailer made from Nonnie Jules, author of Daydream’s Daughter, Nightmare’s Friend and the Good Mommie’s Guide and owner of 4WillsPublishingthat features music made specifically for the trailer.

Pattimari Cacciolfi, author of Sometimes our Greatest Misery is our Greatest Happiness and Stolen Identity, of PNP Authors made a book trailer introducing me and Allergic to Life.

To celebrate this amazing year and all the wonderful people I have met, I am giving away three signed copies of Allergic to Life (US Only) on Goodreads.  I am sorry that I can’t do signed copies for those of you outside the US.  I am going to also give away three e-book copies to anyone outside the US. To receive an e-book copy, simply leave a comment below on why you would like to receive a copy. The contest will run from August 30, 2014 through October 30, 2014.

I appreciate the support all of you have given me not only on this blog but with my book as well.  You are all so very wonderful!

Allergic to Life can be purchased at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  Signed copies may be purchased at Kathryn’s website.

I AM SICK!

Darn it.  All this gallivanting around from blog to blog must have made me sick.  (No not really).  But I am sick.  My sinuses are so swollen I can’t breathe out of them. I can’t even irrigate because the water just runs back out.  I am making a trip to my ENT tomorrow at the early hour of 7:30 a.m.  I would love to have him squirt something up there to shrink the tissues so I can breathe.  The dilemma with that is that I react to it.  So do I suffer until they calm down or have the squirt of medicine and then take my histamine and Vitamin C until the reaction calms down.  What a horrible decision to have to make.

But I know I won’t put the stuff in my nose but I need a culture done and have him listen to my lungs just to make sure they are still clear.  As soon as my appt. is over I am coming home, putting on my yoga pants and a t-shirt and taking it easy.  I will still be around during the blog tour but maybe not as present as I would like to be.  I have to get better, my book launch party is less than two weeks away and I am making the goodies and still need to get some items purchased for it.

I hope you all have taken the opportunity to go to nonniewrites and  participate in Day 6 of Allergic to Life’s book blog tour.  If not, stop by and leave a message to let her know that you were there.

How is the Book Coming? When will it be available?

I have been getting these questions a lot lately from not only friends but family members as well.  I wish I had the immediate answer.  All I can say is soon.  I am patiently or impatiently waiting for the inside photos to be cleaned up and changed to black and white.  The whole project was put on hold when my friend’s paying job became overwhelming and then his computer died and he needed to have another one rebuilt.

The good news is he is back working on them.  I am not sure how far he is on the 50 photos he has to work with.  And I don’t want to ask because it will only make me anxious.  Once these photos are cleaned and ready I will submit them.  From what I gather it will take a few weeks for me to get a working copy to read and make any necessary changes to.  Then it is up to me to go through it and send it back.  We are near the end of June.  Without making a commitment to a release date, I don’t expect it to happen before September.

Thank you all for your support while I continue to write here and work on the book’s release.

An excerpt from Allergic to Life:

In my home I feel

like a stranger

Because of this here

I do not want to linger

Will I ever feel

at home and at ease

In this cold house

with this awful disease

My life has been

turned upside down

I now wear less

smile and more frown

Meeting with friends

to talk and shop

All these fun things

have come to an end

To their homes for visits

I cannot go

I sit at home and

they do not show

Friendship with me

is now a bother and chore

Special soaps and clothes

before they come to my door

Less and less will I

hear from them

For Rick and I it will

just be me and him

I guess I can’t

blame them for

I have really become

rather a bore

I haven’t been here

or there

I really have nothing

to share

They saw a new movie

or found a new place to shop

I got a new food and

found a safe mop

I have been talking about my book cover and the upcoming webpage.  Along the way I had started an author Facebook page but never made it public.  In order for my webpage to have a working link to Facebook, it had to be a published page.

Long story, short, I have worked on it and it went live last night.  I am sure there will need to be some tweaks before it is the way I want it.  Please stop by and “like” my page.
