Okay, I am stepping up on my “soap box”. Everyone, beware!!
I have talked about the problem I have with a tooth and the decision I have had to make regarding pull it out or suffer through a crown lengthening procedure and having a crown fitted again. Recently I made the decision that I would just pull the tooth and get a bridge.
Last month I phoned the office of my biological dentist and spoke with his assistant. I asked her for the name of the oral surgeon he was wanting me to see and a phone number. Last week I got brave enough to make the call to his office (which is nearly an hour from my home). I asked if they had experienced any water leaks (mold) or if they used any fragrances in the office. She replied we burned candles but we haven’t burned them in about three months. REALLY? Like not burning the candles for three months is going to suddenly remove the chemicals from the carpet, the walls, the furniture. I thought maybe I would just drive there and check out the office. Night before last when I couldn’t sleep I began using my intuition and asking my self if this was a wise decision. I got the horrible electrical sensation I get in my head when I am deciding if an action is a good one. This electrical sensation means no. I know this may seem strange to many of you but I learned how to listen to my body several years ago as part of my energy balancing treatments. If a decision is good, my body remains calm. I have also learned that my intuition (gut feeling, sixth sense whatever you may call it) does not lie. NEVER!
Yesterday I phoned my biological dentist’s office and said that I would not be seeing the oral surgeon recommended because of the candles and that my intuition told me it wasn’t a safe place for me. I was told by his wife that she wouldn’t use anyone else. They are supposed to call me back with other ideas.
Meanwhile this morning I phoned my regular dentist where I get my cleanings done and asked for a name. I phoned this oral surgeon’s office this morning as well and was told they use “air fresheners”. I decided since I had to be across town to check another office I would pop in. It was horrible. I asked to be taken into an exam room to see what it was like. I didn’t feel well in there and once I removed my mask the hoarseness, the tightness in my throat, and the brain fog came on me. I asked them why they used the air fresheners. The response is that they deal with often very disgusting smells coming from decaying teeth and they use the air fresheners and additional spray air fresheners to cover the smell and so it won’t smell like “a dentist’s office”. They offered to try to make some arrangements prior to me coming but let’s face it there isn’t anyway they can make it safe enough for me. I can’t even imagine sitting in there for 30 minutes without my mask to have my tooth pulled. By the time I got back to my car I needed a histamine shot. I haven’t used one in a very long time.
I had a similar experience when visiting a dermatologists’ office about a year ago. They finally helped me to the surgical area where there weren’t any air fresheners.
OKAY-Here I go! Why in the world do doctors, dentists, or any medical professionals put so many chemicals in their offices when they are dealing with sick people? I am curious what percentage of medical offices use candles or plug-ins etc. For that reason, I am going to start making phone calls and ask this question to many offices in my town. I will be reporting back on my findings and will be writing a letter to the editor. I am sure writing this letter to the editor won’t solve my problems but it will make me feel better having made myself heard. When I get this done, I will be posting the draft letter for your review. I am sorry to ramble on (part of it is anger and most of it is my body dealing with all the chemicals and the reaction). I really needed to vent somewhere that I knew I would be understood. It is a good thing this is not an emergency to have the tooth pulled but I can’t wait indefinitely.
I understand Kathern– rant ALL YOU WANT!!! Next Wed morning at 7:45 A.M. I go to an oral surgeon here in the town where we live in– to have a tooth pulled that the crown cracked & broke off– I had a partical made several years ago– & it gaged me– & made my mouth peel & my tongue swell– & I never could wear it–& it never did fit- but-a year ago– I had this same oral surgeon I am going to next Wed. pull a tooth for me– & it was not the best experience– but I lived through it– & they only gave me enough chemical drug to get it out–I am dreading it– but I have been so sick all this month– since the cap came off of the tooth– & I think it is the poison going into my body from the root canal I had done on that tooth– & other poison– I had to wait a month to get into this oral surgeon– from the time I lost the broken cap off of the tooth–I’ll be sooooooo glad when it is over & I am better from the experience!!! I am printing out all my MCS info. to take with me– as ths last visit no one had even heard of MCS!!! Oh– the joys of MCS & people who have no clue– we have to turn our lives over to!!! I am praying for the best– the lady who made my appointment was very nice– & I am praying all goes well— as there are no perfect situtations when you have MCS!!! I am going with a positive attitude– & trusting God will see me through this!!! And help me make a speady recovery!!! Blessing Kathern– & Best wishes– as I do so understand!!!!
Sonda – I am going to move forward and keep searching as long as I have time to do it. The tightness in my throat last for several hours even after taking histamine. There is no way I can sit in there without my mask for 30 minutes without trigging the coughing that would be very detrimental when having the procedure done.
Sonda
I just received a letter from my biological dentist. Basically it said he didn’t know anyone else who would do a good job and do what he recommended. Basically I am on my own to find someone who may follow these directions. As bad as I have been feeling from just removing my mask for 2 minutes or so, 20-30 minutes would really put me under. I am going to try and make some more phone calls Monday. I will be praying that all goes well for you on Wednesday.
OH– KATHERYN— I’M SORRY– I PRAY YOU FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP YOU & IT BE THE BEST THAT WE CAN EXPERIENCE WITH OUR HEALTH PROBLEMS!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS- I TOTALLY APPREICATE THAT SO MUCH!!- I JUST PRINTED OUT INFORMATION TO SHARE WITH THE ORAL SURGEON’S OFFICE I AM GOING TO– & I TOLD THEM TO PLEASE – NOT TO HURT ME– CAUSE I WOULD BLOG ABOUT IT TO MY OVER 3,500 FOLLOWERS & MCS SISTERS!!! 🙂

It would be nice if people just appreciated fresh (unscented) air. I would rather smell a skunk than a perfumed skunk. One time I even saw furnace filters that had “air fresheners” in them – a scary product for those of us who are chemically sensitive. That gut feeling or sixth sense is real and there have been many times that others have confirmed to me that my instincts were right about not going someplace.
Wow, air filters with air freshners. Febreze is in everything these days. Someone on another site belong to posted something about all the chemicals in Febreze. I am going to read it and may post something here when I am done with it. I have always asked why people think their clothes need to smell like something in order for them to feel they are clean. Have you seen those commercials advertising those little pellets that make the “smell” stay in clothes for weeks? Yes, intuition is everything.
Boy. The things I haven’t thought of before. I’m grateful for your perspective, as it’s opening my eyes in a big way on the subject of allergies and sensitivities.
As for how you listen to your body’s signals for intuitive purposes: Yes! I’ve tried to explain the feelings I get when I do a type of card reading for friends and family. There is a physical shift and sensation I feel when I touch the right card for that person – right at that time. Cool stuff. 🙂
Ellen – because of your work in Reiki and energy work, I knew you would know what I was talking about with my head. It is very hard to explain this sensation and how it is different from the calm I experience when I ask about something that is okay for me. Before my first experience with energy balancing – I thought it was voodoo or New Age Garbage. I was told by someone to try it during my first trip to the Environmental Health Center in 2002 and I wouldn’t even consider it. I finally tried it in 2003. Oh, I wish I had experienced it sooner. What a difference it can make.
When businesses do this with the air fresheners, it’s called Ambient Scenting, and there is a huge market for it. I’ll be writing an article for this later in the year. Basically, companies are going one step further than installing automatic air fresheners, they are having scents installed into the air-conditioners in the hope that they can control or persuade people into feeling good so they relax/spend more/have a positive experience they remember: all in the name of making money! It’s pretty scary…
You pay attention to that intuition of yours. It’s the only thing that has got me this far. Sometimes I don’t want to listen as it’s not inline with what I want to buy or do, but if I don’t listen (mine’s a feeling in my gut, and my own voice telling me not to do something) I always pay the price: usually a chemical exposure!
I’d love to hear more about your method.
You are kidding!!! Putting air fresheners in air conditioning! That is just so unbelievable.
I just learned to lie still and let myself breathe. I begin by asking myself questions that I know are okay for me. Is it okay to use a particular soap? Is it okay to eat strawberries? Then I ask myself a question to something I know is not good for me. Is it okay to eat bleu cheese? (Of course it isn’t.) My body will feel tense and then I get a buzzing or shock kind of sensation run across my head from left to right. Usually I will again ask my self if something is okay that I know is okay. This gets the calm feeling again. Finally I ask myself myself something that I am not sure of the answer. If I remain calm, then I can try it. If I get the stuff in my head, I won’t even attempt it.
This is usually pretty accurate.
“You are kidding!!! Putting air fresheners in air conditioning! That is just so unbelievable.”—-
IT IS CALLED “SCENT MARKETING”– I HAVE GOTTEN ON MY SOAP BOX ABOUT IT MANY TIMES ON MY BLOG– THEY EVEN USE IT IN SOME OF THE THEATERS HERE IN BRANSON, MO.— I THINK I WROTE ABOUT IT FIRST– ABOUT MY EYE DOCTOR & THE OFFICE USES SCENT MARKETING!!! I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are trying to kill us all off one scent at a time (or combination of scents and chemicals). We will stay strong and when everyone around us collapses, we will be the ones they look to for help.
AMEN–KATHERYN— THAT IS HOW I NOW HAVE OVER 1,000 MCS SISTERS WHO I HAVE HELPED SET UP MCS SAFE HOMES– & OVER 3,500 FOLLOWERS OF MY BLOG—— THEY ARE KILLING US OFF– & PEOPLE ARE SEARCHING FOR HOPE & HELP!!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE TO KEEP GIVING OUT THE INFORMATION FOR HELP!!!!!!!!! KEEP HELPING KATHERYN— KEEP SHARING!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!!!!
Wow – you have a huge number of followers! That is great that so many are getting the message.
I started my blog last Sept– after fighting starting one for over 3 years– but when the numbers became soooo great I could not keep up with it with–
e-mails– if I knew I had to do a blog or not have any time for a life– I still don’t know how to blog- 🙂 – but it doesn’t seem to make any difference to those that follow me– most all are people I knew well before I started the blog!!! But the numbers have grown each day!!! I think it just proves– how many people are searching for hope & help– from the toxic chemical way of life!!!
: )
That “intuition” comes to me as a strong gut feeling and nagging voice. It has a specific quality that is difficult to describe, but it is tenacious and if I don’t listen, I usually pay for it.
I had an unfortunate experience the last time I went to the dentist. I have been going there for several years without a problem, but last time they used an air freshener (“warmer” as they called it) that made me very sick. I told them about it, and they turned it off for the remainder of my visit, but the smells were already very strong in the office and rooms. I was sick with a full migraine and nausea the whole day.
Oh those darn (polite use of words) are horrible. I totally understand why you had a migraine the whole day. I may try and start making some other calls tomorrow.
Hey there! So I have had WAY more than my share of dental work done. As I child I was very pro-sugar and anti-floss. 😉 Anyhow, I am wondering if there’s any way they could do this kind of thing at your house? Because I once had a tooth pulled and it was literally like, I laid down, they yanked, I sat up and left. I usually get gas at the dentist because I have a severe phobia of sharp things and well, the dentist has a startling array of very upsetting sharp things sitting around. But if you don’t need it, I don’t see any reason a dentist couldn’t come to you with a syringe of numbing stuff and yank it right out. My dentist here in Dallas has always been willing to go above and beyond for me, so if you can’t find anyone else I could ask him about a house call. Anyway, I really think it’s possible. Let me know if you want his contact info or if you end up finding someone! 🙂
Unfortunately I am too far from Dallas. I had planned last Monday to check out another office because the doctor doesn’t see patients there on Mondays but my asthma was acting up. Thought I would go today but have a little bit of a stomach virus that I caught from my grandkids. If I am better later today I may try and check it out.
I am worried that it may not be as simple as just pulling out because there is so little of the tooth.
